Every label speaks its own sizing language. A Zimmermann 1, a Matteau 3 and a SIR. 2 are all, broadly, an Australian 10. This guide translates them, label by label, into Australian, UK, US, European and Italian sizes.
On every listing, you'll find the size on the label and the Australian size it would best fit. Use this guide to check how that converts for you.

The simple rule: US sizes are four smaller than AU. French and European sizes are 28 larger, and Italian sizes are 32 larger. So an AU 10 is a UK 10, a US 6, an FR 38 and an IT 42.
Australian labels: take your usual size
Most of the labels we carry use standard Australian sizing, in numbers (6, 8, 10) or letters. If you know your Australian size, you're ready to shop.

Labels with their own numbering
Some labels use their own scale, and the same number can mean different things. A Zimmermann 0 is an AU 8, while at most other labels a 0 is an AU 6. Always check the label first.

European and luxury houses
European labels size their clothing in French, Italian or European sizes. Find the number on the label in the international table, or use these as a guide:
-
French sizes: Celine, Chanel, Dior, Isabel Marant, Jacquemus, Saint Laurent. An FR 34 is an AU 6, and an FR 38 is an AU 10.
-
Italian sizes: Prada. An IT 38 is an AU 6, and an IT 42 is an AU 10.
-
European sizes: Acne Studios, Ganni, Toteme. An EU 34 is an AU 6, and an EU 38 is an AU 10.
Cut varies between houses and seasons, and archive and vintage pieces can run smaller than today's sizing. If you're unsure, ask us before you buy.
American labels
A.L.C., Helmut Lang, Mara Hoffman, Proenza Schouler, Sea New York, Tibi and Ulla Johnson use US sizing. Add four to find your Australian size: a US 2 is an AU 6, and a US 6 is an AU 10.
Denim waist sizes
Jeans from labels such as St. Agni, Outland Denim, Agolde, Acne Studios and Toteme are sized by waist. Denim varies more than any other category, so use this as a starting point.

Rigid, non-stretch denim fits more snugly than stretch denim, and many styles relax with wear.
Shoes
Most designer shoes, from Saint Laurent and Prada to St. Agni, are sized in European (EU) or Italian (IT) sizes, which are the same. Go by the EU size: it's the one number every label agrees on.

Half sizes follow the same pattern: an EU 37.5 is a UK 4.5, a US 7.5 and an AU 6.5. AU and US conversions vary a little between labels (St. Agni, for example, lists the same number for AU and US), so the EU size is always the safest guide.
Swimwear
-
Matteau swimwear runs from 1 to 5 (AU 6 to 14), on the same scale as its clothing. It's designed to fit snugly, so go up a size for a softer fit.
-
Boteh swimwear runs one letter smaller than usual: XXS is an AU 6, XS is an AU 8 and S is an AU 10.
